Breath Work and Meditation

The connection between the breath, the body and the mind is indisputable. The breath can be used to calm the nervous system and restore balance during times when the mind is in a state of heightened anxiety or stress. A person who understands how the power of the breath can be used, can call on it at anytime and in any situation - the breath is forever with us, without fail.

The All Voices team coaches clients on how to notice early signs of triggers that could elevate their anxiety or stress, and then how to help diffuse the situation by implement self-soothing techniques on the breath to calm the mind and the body.

By balancing your breathing, one can begin to regain control of your emotions and calm your mind. Some outcomes experienced after cultivating a relationship with the breath include-

  • Reduced anxiety, stress and irritability

  • Improved mood and emotional stability

  • Increased patience for yourself and others

  • Improved sleep depth and quality

  • Increased ability to concentrate and focus

Some commonly used breath techniques, or pranayama as they are called in the Yogic texts, we will practice together-

  • Breath awareness

  • Sama Vritti, steady breath

  • Box breath, even breath

  • Nadi Shodhana, alternative nostril breathing

  • Bhramari, bees breath or a humming technique

  • Yoga Nidra, conscious relaxation - also known as Yogic Sleep
